	2007.08.09  19.05 They definitely don't dance anymore So as some of you may know I have a 14 year old sister who loves to dance.  Since I've been here at home she's showed me all of the new dances, in particular, CRANKING DAT SOULJA BOI!  Now, when she showed me this dance my first thought was, "Okay, this'll be good, Shayla ( changing her name for the sake of conserving her identity)  has good taste and this dance must be tight!" Well sad to say I was wrong.  Shayla logged on to youtube and showed me the hot, ghetto mess that was CRANKING DAT SOULJA BOI. In all honesty it looked as if these fools doing the dance were having seizure fits or doing some kind of made up ritualistic dance! And Shayla thought this stuff was cute, what?! No, it looked terrible.  Not only that, but the music that goes to this dumb ass dance is ,to say it nicely, really special! And everyone who submitted a video on youtube exhibiting to the entire world how to "crank a soulj boi" was sad to say African American from the suburbs. (tisk tisk tisk)  So as Shayla and I laughed at this hot ghetto mess, we discovered that not only can you "crank" a "soulja boi" but you can also crank: superman batman lion king ...and  spiderman Wow, I didn't know you could "crank" so much! (j/k)  But sad to say on my part that as Shayla began to learn how to "crank" I got even more use to it and even began to like it and want to learn it! What is wrong with me!? It was then and now that I have admitted to myself that there is nothing wrong finding joy in what we may see as hot ghetto mess.  I mean should we spend all of our life standing from the sidelines criticizing people who are just making the most out of life? Now I'm not saying that we should accept a disrespecting of culture and people, but this "cranking" this soulja boi is a great example of the birth of black dance. Black slaves made some of the greatest dances during slavery, just doing what they knew.  This dance is something I can't look down on, but say, "Alright, I may not dig it, but if it can bring more pride, happiness and community to my community, then it's alright with me."   So though, at first glance, this dance is stupid and I thought Shalya was dumb for liking it, but I must admire her for seeing the beauty and grace and fun in something that many would fine stupid.  So I support the "CRANKING OF SOULJA BOIS" and anything else, just as long as it exuberates a positive image of the Black community. 	2007.08.07  17.51 it's been a good while. i forgot i even had a livejournal. so....life for me is....life! i've been working, packing for MADRID,and losing some of this college weight (yes!) so may i just say that working at my place of employment, which shall remain nameless, is quite boring and frustrating.  i'm from detroit, and have not gotten used to suburbanites. to be honest i like people from the city more than people from the burbs.  no disrespect if your from the burbs, but since moving to the valley (valley girl accent), mi from detroit, mi, i have found suburbanites to be shallow, conceded and closed minded. now ,i'm basing this from the girls i work with.  they all only seem to care about, parties, beer, their clothes(which are sometimes quite skanking and a tad bit ugly), oh and my favorite, all chasing after this one busser at the resturant at which i work. let's call this busser duke. and to add to that list, they are all in high school and think they know eveything about the world, which them bitches do not! now duke is attractive, but for the love of God, must they all chase after him!? i mean everytime he's around you here in a high pitch flirty voice "Duke, oh my god...." with a stupid ass flirty giggle. i know duke knows these stupid ass girls like him, but must the all be on his balls 24/7 and must he sit around and let the ball crowdin occur?  not only that i overheard two of the girls i work with talking about how one of them really liked duke and the other girl was telling her to tell him. now duke is a cool as guy, but in all honesty, i don't think duke goes for girls who have that stuck up bitch auro every now and again and think they're too pretty to do work.  plus, i think duke may have a woman. ok, on a happier note, i may have just enough money to have a good time in madrid. i had been worrying about money, how was i going to survive? i thought i would have had to sell drugs (j/k)! but i talked to the financial aid office and my financial aid advisor is having me get additional loans so i can have a credit on my account, which means i will have extra money!!! so i can travel to london and morocco just like i planned!!! well peace, hair grease and love,   Nina Music: Girl from Ipanema by Stan Getz, Golden by Jill Scott, and R U Gonna ....by Jet

	2006.03.07  01.01 Should be sleeping I really should be asleep, but since Becca Fealk is still up and playing on her computer, I will too. HAHA shorty mcshort! Well what has been going on in my life......?, Oh I just found out tonite that my mom bought a new car and will give me her old car! YAY! for me. The only down side is that she is a bit skeptical about buying a car from a dealership that claims to want to help people who have been having financial problems. I'm a little sketchy too, but I hope it's not a scam. I am very excited about the fact that one day I will be officailly done with my Pyschology class. I must admit I will miss haveing Karyn Boatwright as a professor but I am happy to get my classes done. Then I only have one official final test because in Art I have a final portfolio that's due next Tuesday before noon, and my final in Pyschology is a group project that we will be done with tommorrow morning. 	2006.03.01  13.04 In all honesty I have no time to be writing a live journal entry, but oh well I am. I have, just look at this long list, an art project due tommorrow and I have not even touched the first part of it so I have lots of stuff to do, need to read and article for psychology and fill out the questions, study for a Spanish test on Friday and write a group paper for Pysch that's due next Wenesday. On top of all that stuff, I am afraid I may be getting a C in pysch and spanish with a B in Intro to Visual Fundamentals. I need a 2.7 to maintain my scholarship so I pray to God that I don't get less than a 3.0. Well I gotta go get stuff done, say a prayer for me and remember today starts lent, What will you give up for Christ? Remember He gave His life for you. 	2006.02.28  01.25 Tired I am so tired!!! I know I should sleep, but this livejournal thing is kinda, just kinda addictive. So what do I write about?.... Oh, My Super Sweet Sixteen! Why is it that rich little brats have such extravagant ( oh I know I can't spell) parties? It's crazy! When I turned sixteen I was lucky to get a hotel room, with some pizza and a birthday cake. Now it seems these little girls get parties at A list clubs, A list Dj's and Benzes as birthday presents. It's crazy!!! But I must admit more power to them, they are living the live that many people will not be able to live. I just hope that they use it to their advantage, hopefully they will get some kind of decent education, feed the needy, help the homeless in New Orleans, you know, do useful, constructive things with their large allowance. Also, I am motivated to write about a new reality show I discovered tonite while have an Oreo shake in the Quad Stop (they are so good!), the Flavor Flav show. OMG!!! I could not believe women would line up to be involved in a show where Flavor Flav, let me remind you just who he is, an old, wrinkled, gold plated teeth, huge ass clock wearing, nasty forty-six year old man who was in Public Enemy in the early 90's. It was one of the most entertaining and disgusting things I have ever witnessed on television. These women were so beautiful, and he is so....UGH! I must admit it was funny to watch but at the same time made my stomach turn. But, you know what was funny, the selection of women was done "The Bachelor" style, but the difference is that if you were one of the "lucky" ladies chosen you got a gold big-ass clock to wear around your neck with your picture in it. 	2006.02.27  19.58 K Parties (con.) Okay, so what I was getting at was that not every party needs beer, vodka and rum to make it a good time. Where are all the parties with just dancing, and talking to friends and listening to music. Are college students too old to have "clean" fun. I would like for just once to walk into a party and not smell weed, get beer spilled all over my jeans and have some sweaty nasty man all over me. Additionally, I would like to not feel like a cheap hoe everytime I walk into a party. Is it an unspoken rule that says in order for me to have fun or seem the least bit attractive I must look and act like a cheap ass skank? Sorry if I seem mad, but I needed to vent. 	2006.02.27  17.02 Hey So this is my first journal entry, what should I talk about? I know, you know what is stressful, 9th week at K. I'm all over the place trying my damnest to get eveything done and still remain calm. Art is kicking my behind cuz I have so much to modify and get ready for my final portfolio, I still have one more art assignment to complete, this is crazy. So Saturday night I went out to Orchard, thinking I would have a fabulous good time without liquor, again I thought wrong. I am really growing tired of K College parties, why is it so difficult to through a part without booze and with good music. You think the task would not be complicated, but it seems to be impossible here. I will give more details later. Peace and <3 Love, Nina Young
